Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set – CHCSS00070

This is an accredited unit for existing Workers in the Community Services and Health industry, including parents and unpaid carers of NDIS participants that support clients and family members in the area of assisting clients with medication.

Duration

12 hours Face to Face practical and assessment (Over two days) 9 AM to 3 PM, and online assessment for 'Recognise healthy body systems'.

ASSIST CLIENTS WITH MEDICATION SKILL SET - CHCSS00070

This skill set is for people working in various care and support roles in the community services industry as well as unpaid carers of NDIS participants who wish to develop skills in supporting people to self-administer medication.

These units provide credit towards a range of qualifications in the CHC Community Services Training Package or HLT Health Training Package at Certificate IV and Diploma level.

This skill set has been endorsed by industry as suitable for individuals who hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in an area involving provision of direct client care or support.

Assisting with medication includes:
* reminding and/or prompting a resident/client to take the medicine, or
* assisting (if needed) with opening of medicine for the client/resident at his/her request and direction, or
* bringing packs of medicines to a person at their request so that the person can take the medicines, or
* reading labels aloud to the client/resident and advising the time (e.g. "3pm") at the request of the person who is going to take the medicine, or
* ensuring the resident/client has a drink to take with his or her medicines
This Skill Set is trained and assessed by a qualified Registered Nurse.

FUNDING & PAYMENT OPTIONS

Higher Level Skills Funding

Eligible students may be able to access government assistance to complete a Certificate IV or above in an identified high-priority study area. 

The Higher Level Skills program aims to assist eligible students to gain the qualifications they need to obtain secure employment, advance their career or transition to university studying priority industries. Employers in priority industries may also be able to use this program to upskill their workforce to address workforce skills gaps.

For this course the subsidy could bring your cost of study down from $399 to just $10.
